A new star in the Stock Exchange
Skyline
A rotating banner for Frankfurt
Most of the time it’s hovering above everybody,
rotating quietly and persistently without being influenced
by what is happening on the floor below. Anyway, it’s
not really bustling and noisy beneath it any more. Since
computers found their way into the stock exchange, the
brokers’ business has changed rapidly. Nowadays the
orders come by data cable and people wonder if the stock
exchange still needs such a large room. The experts from
the Atelier Brückner in any case think so. They were
the planners responsible for redesigning the floor and
are experts for brands marketing in general and that of
the German Stock Exchange in particular. They are convinced
that the Frankfurt Exchange Floor is not only the showcase
of the German exchange market but that it’s the visual
business card of the brand "German Stock Exchange".
That’s why such great value has been set on an authentic
design, which doesn’t necessarily mean the conservation
of anything that’s old. It rather means the combination
of the established and the dynamic.
That’s why the impressively filigree moving ring
banner is hovering above the perfect parquet. Unobtrusively
printed it repeatedly presents the host’s most important
information, the opening hours and the Internet address
to the public’s awareness. Apparently weightless
it complements with its floating shape the new, round,
frosted glass broker’s barriers without being obtrusive
or condescending. The dimensions are impressive. After
all, the ring banner has a circumference of 8 metres and
is almost 1 metre high. Finally in place the structurally
certified construction weighs nearly a ton and still manages
to turn 1½ rotations in 2 minutes. At a standstill
the banner can be lowered down to the floor at the push
of a button, e.g. to quickly change the tensioning. The
construction is based on the EPS tensioning technology,
which allows flexible tensioning of large-format (printed)
surfaces in almost any spatial shape. An extremely firm
PVC fabric, similar to a drumhead, is clamped taut without
any creases in an EPS-LUMI aluminium
profile. This flexibility with a perfect finish at all
times is typical for the tensioning
technology from EPS.
