Eyecatcher for shoppers
EPS.LUMI on the roof of a furniture store
Directly located at the A45, exit Freudenberg, ten letters result in a name by which people in South Westphalia and surrounding areas think automatically of furniture: Zimmermann. In order that this will remain, the tradition-rich furniture store has also carried out its name optically in the right dimension. The name “Zimmermann” shines in an intense red on the roof of the store and conduces as an eye catcher for potential furniture buyer already in the distance.
To fulfil the task, every single letter is three metres wide and three metres high and weighs up to 400 kilogram. Implemented was this construction by Böll GmbH, a nationally acting specialist for advertising design. “In this dimension you can’t work with an acryl glass construction. From the first we were clear about the fact that we could only realise the customer specifications optimal by using the EPS.LUMI profiles from EPS Profiled Solutions,” explains manager Timo Böll. A special challenge arised thereby that the letters are standing on the edge of the roof. To make sure that the necessary loading capacity is guaranteed, a purpose-built steel construction reinforced the whole roof of the furniture store. For the construction and the bolting of the letters was aluminium used and combined with the EPS.LUMI profiles an optimal ratio of stability and weight was achieved.
The pure building time for the project added up to overall almost eight weeks. “Projects in this dimension are never of the rack, but are always an individual custom work. Aspects like maintenance friendliness and the possibility to change the elements afterwards have to be considered”, said Böll. To service the construction, every single letter can be tilted in the horizontal. In this way the technicians for example can reach the lightings inside the letters easily. Thanks to the strewing effect of the fabric, less lighting elements are required than by using acryl glass to achieve the same luminous power. If needed, the fabric can be changed individually with little effort – another advantage against acryl glass constructions.
„For us as an advertising designer, none other system partner comes into question for large projects like this”, is clear for Timo Böll. Also by “Möbel Zimmermann”, which was taken over by the Lüdenscheider Fritz Sonneborn GmbH & Co. KG in 2008, everyone is more than pleased: No surprises, then at least the ten letters on the roof prove every day that this investment in the own name was really profitable.
