FAGSI illuminated with a new glow
Illuminated object implemented for new sales building in Munich
Building blocks with stubs that mesh like cog wheels. Building blocks that come apart again easily. Building blocks that are practically indestructible and economic to manufacture. Building blocks that are so simply designed that they enable endless variations. Lego bricks are the most amazing toy in the world, without a doubt, since they enable so many different variations on a theme.
Just like the modular construction which has been the speciality of the Morsbach-based Alho Systembau GmbH for many years. "The Alho modules are basically Lego bricks for architects," explains architect Frank Holschbach. They mesh into each other and come apart again easily. If necessary, just like Lego bricks, they can be used over and over again." The co-founder of the architectural company LHVH in Cologne often works with these spatial blocks from the traditional company and is simply delighted with the variety the containers enable, even when it comes to design. Fitted using the building block system, the modules can be used to construct individually planned buildings. The advantages for the owner are obvious: the rooms are mobile, they can be used as interim buildings and dismantled at any time, the level of pre-fabrication shortens the construction time and keep costs under control. Depending on requirements, a modular construction can even be erected for a "lifetime" since this lifetime is comparable with a conventional brick for brick built construction.
Around 200,000 modules from Alho are in use around the world. Now the "space factory" have expanded their construction facilities to include an additional sales office in Munich-Bergkirchen. The modern office building houses Fagsi Vertriebs- und Vermietungs-GmbH and the Bavarian sales office for ALHO Systembau GmbH. An appropriate illuminated housing, made using EPS.LUMI profiles, is used to represent the name of the new subsidiary. "We chose the profiles from EPS because we have successfully realised a few projects in the past with them (derCube and an eyecathcer in the hubbub). The appearance and design, as well as the attractiveness of the material play a great role. The filigree frame of the illuminated housing is a wonderful corner detail. In addition, the motif can be replaced at any time and the surface is absolutely level and tensioned without creases. All advantages which we wanted to make good use of", says architect Frank Holschbach. The 6 x 1.20 m and 18 cm deep illuminated object is backlit with 35 fluorescent lamps which enable the object to display itself to the best of its abilities in the evening hours.
